Trauma Informed Practice Training

Who is it for?

Practical training for coaches, volunteers, parents, and other adults working with children and young people in sport and physical activity settings in Scotland.

This training is free of charge, funded by sportscotland

What to Expect

Accessible, practical training in trauma-informed practice. You'll come away with a better understanding of how trauma affects behaviour, and simple tools to help you respond and create a safe, supportive environment for the children and young people you work with.

❋ Recognise signs of trauma and dysregulation

How to recognise signs of trauma, distress, and dysregulation in children and young people

❋ Embed children's rights into everyday practice

How to create emotionally and physically safe environments, and embed children's rights into everyday coaching/volunteering practice

❋ Building Trust

Build trust with children who may be wary of adults

❋ Responding to distress or disclosure

Practical tools for compassionate communication and appropriate responses to distress or disclosure


When and where will the training be held?
  • Training sessions are delivered online

  • Dates run June to August, day and evening slots
